About

Portrait of Yoshitaro Yanagita, filmmaker and photographer

I make films about people who make things — muralists, makers, and the communities and places that shape them.

Working between Japan and the rest of the world, I direct documentaries, brand films, and travel stories built on one belief: that ordinary moments, filmed with patience, become the ones people remember.

Since 2016, as Yoshi Travel Films, I've followed street art and mural culture across more than ten countries — New Zealand, Mexico, the United States, the Caribbean — and joined PangeaSeed's Sea Walls, using art to speak for the ocean, more than ten times. In 2020 I founded Artist Files to bring the world's street art home to Japan, and held my first solo exhibition, The World's Muralism, in Yokohama.

My background is in graphic design; my instinct is for story. Lately I've been folding 3D and AI into the work — not for spectacle, but as new ways to tell the truth.

Now based in Japan, I'm looking for the next story to tell — and the people and brands to tell it with.
